What flake does
Colored vinyl chips are broadcast into the base coat until it is fully covered. The chips add texture, mask dust and small scratches, and give the floor a speckled stone look. A clear topcoat seals the chips in.
Designing for mid-century style
Eichler and ranch homes often look great with muted blends: warm gray, sand and charcoal, or mixes with a hint of mid-century orange or teal. For a modern remodel, a crisp gray and white blend fits well. We bring physical sample boards so you can see them in your own light.
Wet bikes and rainy winters
In winter, bikes, strollers and shoes come in wet. Flake texture gives better grip than a smooth coating, and we can tune the topcoat for more or less texture.
Best places for flake
- Garages and carports
- Mudrooms and laundry rooms
- Side workshops and storage rooms
Durability
A full broadcast flake floor resists chipping because the chips are part of the coating. The topcoat takes the wear, and it can be refreshed years later without a full redo.
Is it hard to keep clean?
No. Sweep or dust mop, and mop with mild soap.
Can I do flake in an interior room?
Yes, but many homeowners prefer polished concrete or metallic indoors.
